Jan. 30th - 2nd day of school - This day, I received an email from Katie that it was going a little better. When I got home from work, she actually talked about the day and how her kids were very inquisitive - trying to find out if she were married and why she didn't turn pro at softball. She seemed to like her day much better but I did have to convince her to stay awake until 7:30 - then she went to bed.
Jan. 29th - Katie started her new job today, teaching 8th grade at Pioneer Jr. High in Upland. I wondered how the day went and I found out when I got home from work. She was upstairs vacuuming and when I asked her how her day was, she just shrugged and kept going. I asked if she talked about herself and she said, "yes." Notice, no elaboration. I decided, I better just leave her alone and cook dinner. By dinnertime, she did manage to make her way downstairs but she did not want to talk about work. As a matter of fact, if she would have been given the opportunity to quit right there and then, I'm very confident that she would have. She went to bed...7:45.

The four years that have flown by....
Katie just completed her 4th year at ISU. Her college softball career is over and her new career (life) has just begun. She has many great memories of her college years and will hold many friendships close to her heart. She'll return to ISU in the fall to student teach until December. At that time, she'll have an important decision - where to work, where to live, and what comes next in her life!

Santa and Bu
Most mothers stand in long lines at Christmas to have their children's picture taken with Santa. So, why should I be any different? Maybe because my children are too old to sit on Chris' lap! BUT...Malibu is only 5lbs 7 oz so Santa was more than happy to have her cuddle up to him, especially since he was at Pet Smart!

Thanksgiving
Did anyone ever stop to think about how the "Turkey" feels on Thanksgiving? Why should you, afterall, it's only a turkey. But, Turkeys have feelings too. This year, I decided to honor the turkey and take it's picture. Afterall, if it weren't for Mr. Turkey, what would we eat? Ham isn't really appropriate, we eat that on Easter. Why not eat Rabbits on Easter? Who said we have to eat Prime Rib on Christmas? Who came up with the menu for Thanksgiving anyway? Aren't we suppose to have corn and stuff like that?

Only in California
It's November 20th and it was 90 degrees today. What's with this summer-like weather? It's suppose to be getting cooler and eventually, begin to snow. Hey, wake up! It's California! It's hot and that's the way we like it. Bundle up all you Illinoians and be very jealous. Happy Thanksgiving to you too!
